Starting in 2009, the City Council commenced a strategic planning process to establish Three Year Goals to gain consensus on the City’s Core Values and Priority Strategic Objectives. This process is ongoing and is a critical component of maintaining the City in a fiscally sustainable manner.
On January 23, 2015, the Council, City Manager, and Department Heads met to update the three-year goals and to come to consensus on new six-month strategic objectives. This process resulted in a re-affirmation of the City Council’s Mission and Core Values, creation of four new Goals, and the development of new Six-Month Strategic Objectives.
The Council’s mission statement is as follows: “The City of Huntington Beach provides sustainable quality services to maintain and enhance our safe and vibrant community.”
The Three Year Goals are:
- Improve quality of life
- Enhance and maintain infrastructure
- Strengthen economic and financial sustainability
- Enhance and maintain public safety
