Beach Maintenance is responsible for cleaning 3.5 miles of beach front, this includes raking the sand; sweeping bike paths and parking lots; blowing sand off steps, corners and sidewalks; they also clean over 100 fire rings; hand pick trash; clean more than 100 restroom stalls and dump 850 trash cans.
Their duties also include cleaning the pier and the downtown main promenade parking structure. They oversee private contracts that maintain the newly developed Pier Plaza and the Huntington Harbor waterways.
This group of dedicated individuals work the graveyard shift, year around, seven days a week.
The parking meter division maintains and collects revenues in over 1,400 parking meter and 15 parking machines that handle over 1,200 parking spaces. There other duties consist of meter removal and installations, cleaning housings and mechanism repairs. This is a 7-day a week revenue generation division.
