October Mayor's Award - Jimmy Hoang, Code Enforcement
posted on 10/23/2018.

At the October 15 City Council meeting, Mayor Mike Posey recognized Jimmy Hoang of the City’s Code Enforcement Division with the Mayor’s Award.  Community Development Director, Ursula Luna-Reynosa, helped present the award and thanked the City Council and Mayor for acknowledging employees for their achievements indicating that it is a meaningful gesture to those being recognized with Mr. Hoang expressing deep gratitude for the honor.

Jimmy Hoang has served the community of Huntington Beach for three and a half years. Prior to his tenure with the City, he worked in Code Enforcement for the City of Anaheim for a period of 10 years.  Mr. Hoang often draws from his past experience introducing new ideas and methods here in Huntington Beach.  Mr. Hoag completed his Masters of Management while employed with the City and is constantly looking to increase his knowledge base through various training opportunities.  He is a liaison for the Vietnamese community after passing his language proficiency exam.  He is often assigned some of the most challenging code enforcement cases.

Ms. Luna-Reynosa commended Mr. Hoang for his initiative, responsiveness, drive and affability. She had high praise for his ability to lead the Code Enforcement Division when an unexpected absence which left the Division without the two most senior employees while managing his own caseload and taking on a special assignment to assist the City Attorney’s Office.

Mr. Hoang was humble as he accepted the award and was quick to share the praise with his immediate code enforcement unit but also with all of his colleagues at City Hall. He ended with a quote from American author and management expert, Kenneth Blanchard, “None of us is as smart as all of us”.
