Inspection, Testing & Maintenance RequirementsFor Fire Protection Systems

All Fire Departments in the State of California are required to by law to enforce the requirements of Title 19, Public Safety, Division 1, State Fire Marshal regulations:

It is the responsibility of the contractor, company or licensee to provide a written report of the test and maintenance results [of fire protection systems] to the building owner and the local fire authority having jurisdiction at the completion of the testing and maintenance.

Nationally and locally, it is estimated that between 30 and 50% of all fire and life safety systems go without mandatory inspection, testing and maintenance. To correct this problem, the HBFD has selected The Compliance Engine (TCE), a cloud-based service to efficiently manage the process by streamlining and standardizing the reporting process. With the help of TCE, the HBFD's goal is to obtain 100% compliance with our adopted codes, improve departmental efficiencies and deliver on the goal we all share of improving public safety.

Any contractor licensed to inspect fire/life safety systems within our respective jurisdictions are required to submit their reports via The Compliance Engine. We require all reports within 30 days of the inspection or maintenance completion.  Systems with impairments must be reported immediately.

If you have questions related to the submission of fire system inspections, tests, and maintenance reports to the Huntington Beach Fire Department, please visit the Fire Prevention Division on the 5th Floor of Huntington Beach City Hall at 2000 Main Street, call (714) 536-5411 or email [email protected].
