D.        ORAL COMMUNICATIONS

Public Comments – the Public Works Commission welcomes public comments on all items on this agenda or of community interest.  Three minutes per person, time may not be donated to others.  Commission on this date can take no action on any item not on the agenda.  This is the time to address Commission regarding items of interest or agenda items other than public hearings.  Communications on agenda items will be scheduled such that public comments may be received as close to 5:00 p.m. as possible.

DIRECTOR’S ITEMS

E-1.    "Report on City “Green Programs – As requested at the April meeting, information pertaining to City status on energy policies to conserve resources and protect the environment is provided to the Commission.

INFORMATION ITEMS

F-1.    Active Capital Project Report – An update on active capital projects is presented for the Commission’s information.  Project information, including description, location maps and funding sources can be found in the FY 2007/08 Capital Improvement Program notebook, or on the city’s website under Current Budget information--What’s New.  

F-2.    Upcoming City Council Study Sessions - The City Council conducts public Study Sessions on the evenings of City Council meetings, normally beginning at 4:00 p.m., in Room B-8.  A tentative listing of upcoming sessions is submitted for the Commission’s information. 

F-3.      Proposed Capital Improvement Program FY 2008/09 Water/Sewer/Storm Drain and Transportation Sections – Presentation regarding Water, Sewer, Storm Drain, and Transportation sections annual capital improvements.

ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS

 

G-1.   Reconstruction of Various Residential Streets; MSC 455 - Plans and specifications for MSC-455, Reconstruction of Various Residential Streets, are in final preparation.  Staff requests the Commission’s recommendation of this project to the City Council.

Funding Source:  $1 million is budgeted for this project from Measure M Funds, business unit 21390004.82300.  The engineer’s estimate for this project is $977,500.

Recommended Action:  Motion to recommend to the City Council the approval of MSC-455, Reconstruction of Various Residential Streets.

G-2.   Removal and Relocation of Crosswalk Indianapolis and Cohasset - The existing school crosswalk at the intersection of Indianapolis Avenue and Cohasset Lane is being recommended for removal/relocation in conjunction with the construction of a traffic signal at Indianapolis Avenue and Titan Lane.  State law requires that the public is notified and provided the opportunity to respond prior to elimination of any marked crosswalk.

Funding Source:  Funding for the recommended action has been previously authorized by the City Council with the award of construction contract CC 1251.

Recommended Action:  Motion that the Public Works Commission support the staff recommendation to eliminate/relocate the school crosswalk at the intersection of Indianapolis Avenue and Cohasset Lane to the signalized intersection of Indianapolis Avenue and Titan Lane.

G-3.   Heil Avenue Widening, CC-1230 - Plans and specifications for the Heil Avenue Widening, CC-1230 are in final preparation.  Staff requests recommendation of this project to the City Council.

Funding Source:  Funds in the amount of $1,535,125 are budgeted in MPAH grant monies and the Traffic Impact Fee fund, Heil Avenue Widening 20690009.  The engineer’s cost estimate for this project is $1,200,000.

Recommended Action:  Motion to recommend to the City Council the Heil Avenue Widening, CC-1230.
