Children's Needs Task Force

Meeting Dates and Times

The CNTF meets the fourth Thursday every other month at 4:00 pm in Room B-8, Lower-Level.

Purpose

The Children's Needs Task Force (CNTF) believes that the future of our city depends on how we view our children. The community must provide an environment where children can grow up and become healthy mature adults who feel themselves to be a part of the community. Local leaders must work with schools, outside agencies, the police, and the young people of our community to effectively identify the needs of children, and to develop an approach with which to meet these needs. The Task Force is available to provide their recommendations to the City Council concerning appropriate methods to meet the needs of children in Huntington Beach.

2020 Youth Character Awards

The Huntington Beach Children’s Needs Task Force, together with the City of Huntington Beach, is hosting the 20th annual American Youth Character Awards program to honor young people who are the real heroes and proper role models for their generation. Young people benefit from examples of good decision making in a world fraught with pressures, temptations and bad examples. They need to know that they can become admired heroes simply on the strength of their character.

We need your help! Within your organization, there may be dozens of young people who are deserving of recognition. The process is simple. Anyone that is not an immediate family member can nominate a praiseworthy individual by completing the online nomination form. Nominees must be in grades 3 through 12 and reside in the City of Huntington Beach. Only individual nominations are accepted. Group nominations are not eligible. Feel free to submit as many forms as you would like, and feel free to share the link to other possible nominators! Please make sure to upload a one-page letter of recommendation as well!

The 2020 Youth Character Awards will begin accepting nominations starting Monday, March 2, 2020. The deadline for nominations is April 3, 2020 at 5 p.m.
