The Downtown Economic Development Committee (DEDC) has been dissolved and merged with the Economic Development Committee (EDC) effective November 16, 2021. The Downtown Economic Development Committee (DTEDC) is a City Council sub-committee of the EDC, focused on issues related specifically to the Downtown area. The Committee is composed of the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and past Mayor.
The City established the DTEDC to allow the City Council members, Downtown BID and related businesses and City Staff ample discussion opportunities regarding programs and projects that impact the City's Downtown area. The meetings consist of the Downtown BID, 5th Street representatives, Visit Huntington Beach, Office of Business Development, Community Development, Special Events, Police, Community Services, and Public Works.
The DTEDC holds regular quarterly meetings on the fourth Wednesday of January, April, July*** - will be held in June to better incorporate large downtown events, and October at 2:00 PM in room B-8 at the Civic Center located at 2000 Main Street, Lower Level. All meetings are open to the public and special meetings may be called in conformance with the Ralph M. Brown Act. Meetings may be cancelled due to lack of quorum or business items.
The public is encouraged to come and participate with comments up to 3 minutes at the beginning of the agenda.
