Literacy programs across the state make a real difference in people’s lives every day, and do so with a dedicated corps of volunteers as well as staff. HB Library Literacy was one of the first programs in California 30 years ago. Since then, with the help of more than 6,080 volunteers, the local programs have helped more than 7,100 adults increase their literacy skills and reach goals.

2021 Virtual 5K June 19-27!

How do I get involved virtually?

Literacy Volunteers—HBPL is having our first virtual 5K!! This year, Walk, Run, READ! will be taking place virtually over the course of a week, as we honor the social distancing restrictions. Walk, run, skate, cycle, stroll—choose your fun to enjoy the sunshine while supporting a worthwhile cause. Not feeling the walk? The “READ” is for you! That works, too!

For more information about Literacy Volunteers or to register, go to https://tinyurl.com/HBPLWRR today. Adults are $25; kids $5 for ages 10 and under.
