Get Real-Time Beach Conditions - Safe Beach Day

Are you interested in reviewing beach conditions before soaking up the rays in Surf City?  Check out the Huntington Beach Fire Department/Marine Safety Division’s (HBFD) Safe Beach Day site!

HBFD was the first agency to create a unique public dashboard that provides real-time information about beach activities for residents and visitors. The Public Dashboard includes up-to-date data on:

  • Weather, tides and surf information
  • Aquatic risks at specific lifeguard towers
  • Stingray risks at specific lifeguard towers
  • Informative/educational messages from HBFD
  • Beach parking lot capacity
  • Current and upcoming event information
  • FAQs about your beach visit

By posting real-time information, beachgoers will benefit from knowing key information from beach parking lot capacity to stingray risks all in one site! The Division believes proactive communication with our residents and visitors will only help enhance the quality of life for many coming to enjoy the surf and sand in Surf City.

The Division provides year-round lifeguard services on the city’s beaches which includes rescues, preventative actions, medical aids, and code enforcement services. The HBFD Marine Safety Division manages the summer Junior Lifeguard program and is committed to Community Risk Reduction. Lifeguard services are also provided to Sunset Beach and all the waterways and beaches in Huntington Harbour. The Division is comprised of one Marine Safety Division Chief, three Marine Safety Battalion Chiefs, 13 Marine Safety Captains, four Ocean Lifeguard Specialists and more than 150 recurrent Ocean Lifeguards.
