There was crab alright! And Shrimp. Salad. Clam Chowder...and lots of Lions! This annual Crabfest is a major fundraiser for the HB Host Lions Club, and now we see how it all comes together to benefit the Therapeutic Riding Center, and many other charities.

Many employees were honored during an Ocean View School District Trustee meeting, including elementary school teacher of the year, Vincent Saporito, who went on to be one of the County's Teacher of the Year...and will now compete at the California State level.

In this the 10th year and 10th book for HB READS, Author Jaime Ford takes to the HB Central Library Theatre stage and describes the storyline that fits into the criteria that HB READS committee looks for when selecting its books, including one of diversity. The book, "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" first came out in 2009, but resonates with these readers still today with a mix of love stories amid the back drop of the Japanese Internment camps.

One day, two great events in Surf City...The sand came up to Main Street with the first-ever sand building competition and the VW busses were once again entertaining everyone on Pier Plaza. Sand and the Kowabunga Van Klan, a one-two family-fun punch that makes HB the unique place to live, visit and shop.
