*UPDATE* If you are interested in learning more about our future Navigation Center on 17631 Cameron Lane/17642 Beach Boulevard, please visit our project website, HB Homeless Solutions. This site provides extensive details about our project plans, construction efforts, and timeline to complete this groundbreaking project.
The City is committed to addressing the issue of homelessness to assist citizens in need while minimizing the impact on the community by ensuring that businesses can thrive and residents' quality of life is protected.
Beginning in 2015, the City assigned a full-time officer dedicated to homeless issues and has continued to allocate resources as the number of homeless continues to grow. The City's efforts have grown to include a Homeless Task Force (with four full-time officers, 1 program coordinator and up to 4 case managers) and a Navigation Center providing shelter for eligible homeless individuals with ties to Huntington Beach. This multi-pronged approach is accomplished in a variety of ways such as weekly outreach to engage homeless individuals and determine their needs, reuniting individuals with family members, working within the County's Coordinated Entry System to match individuals and families with housing opportunities, assisting in eviction prevention, maintaining walk-in office hours at the Main Police Station, as well as working cooperatively with local schools to assist children who are homeless or housing insecure.
